Weather and Seasons

January 2, 2009 by Jade

Weather is important to the world because of nature. Wild animals need rain water to drink to live, and so do plants. I guess we do too, as what we drink comes from the ocean, which then gets filtered by special machines to make it safe for us to drink. Plants need water to grow, and all living things need water to live and hydrate. If we dehydrated, we would probably die. Without water, we would probably be exstict by now, as we use water in everything! Cooking, cleaning, washing, drinking, everything.

We also need sun light. It’s both good and bad; it’s good because it gives us good endorphines which are in a way are hormones. They make us feel good about our selves. The bad thing is, if we sit in the sun too long, we can get sun burnt and even develope cancer! For animals though, if they don’t have enough water, they can dehydrate and die. They don’t really need sun.

Snow. It isn’t us that needs snow and cold weather, it’s penguins and seals that live in the cold areas of the Earth. They would be exstinct without snow and cold weather. For the past few years, every summer it’s been quite hot and apparently the snow is melting in the cold area of the World, which is making it harder for penguins to live.

I’d have to say that Winter is definately my favorite Weather/Season. I love it when it snows and theres icing of white snow on buildings, you can make snow angles and snowmen, have snowball fights, and wrap up all nice and warm and go out and play in the snow! It’s doesn’t really snow where i live, but i used to live somewhere else and the snow was over 1 meter high!

Anyway, thanks for reading, there will be more posts to come!

Ciao x

Fossils

December 10, 2008 by bexipepsi

I am very sorry guys, but I will tell you now, this will not be my best blog. I am not very good at all things scientific, in fact I’m rubbish, so I’m telling you now. However, I will try my best :) Anyway, let’s get started.

Fossils. These are the remains of animals, insects, etc. which most probably died thousands or millions of years ago. These remains get buried in the ground as the years pass by, they rot, making them look nothing like how they originally did. Millions of years later, in our time, adventurous people go out with their metal detectors and spades and what not, and go searching for them. When they find them, they inspect them and study them extremely closely, meaning they can find out about which creature the fossil came from, around what time the creature was around on our Earth, and many more different facts about the tiny little things.

In a way they’re interesting, but in other ways they’re not. To me, I can’t really see what they are, I just see a little object that looks as if it’s been moulded into shape. But if I really put my mind to it, I can see what they are, and it is interesting, imagining how it has been there for millions of years.

I couldn’t really think of anything else to put, but I may add things on during the week. Sorry about my lack of knowledge on this topic :(

Fossils

December 10, 2008 by Jade

Fossils. Fossils are the remains of creatures which existed long ago. They are very old. They can be thousands of years old, even millions! They can be found stuck in rocks, gravel, soil, etc. I’m not sure if it this is true, but apparently dinosaurs died just 65 million years ago!

I find them rather interesting. Just the fact that the fossil was living many years ago, is incredible that you can still find them in the ground – untouched! Heres a picture of a fossil still stuck in a stone:

Amazing isn’t it? If you wanna find out more about fossils, click this link: http://www.discoveringfossils.co.uk/whatisafossil.html (This is also where i got my information from xD)

Sorry this isn’t much writing, but i’m really busy. I’ll write some more later :)

Thankies for reading,

Internet games

December 6, 2008 by bexipepsi

Well an internet game I play on quite a lot is BABV. I’m slightly addicted :) Well I preregistered on that last summer, and when it opened in December, there wasn’t much to do on there at all, so I didn’t really go on it that much, just now and again when I was bored. There weren’t many items to get, and only the main room and your bears’ rooms available for your condo.

That’s all changed now though, when I logged on quite early on this year, and there were special events being arranged. I’m logging on every day without fail now, making sure to claim my fountain prize, feed my bear and change my clothes. I love how they bring out new items, which later become rare, and I really like the connection between the real life shop and the website, with the codes, and bringing your bears to life. I’m always trading, getting the latest items, and chilling in the secret places. When I log on and meet Maxine, that’s always fun, it’s great seeing her walking around and chatting to everyone. I think it’s great of her to do that when she must have a hugely busy schedule, and she still makes time to log on and say hello. I’m a cybearguide, and I love my blue cap :)

Other websites I go on. I go on Fuzz Academy sometimes, playing all the fun games on there, and dressing up my cadet, as well as leaving comments on real life friends pages. I joined club penguin a few years ago, and sometimes log on to see what;s going on. The games are fun, and the free gifts pretty cool. I’ve also started logging onto Habbo a bit. The items are cute, and I like collecting the badges. There’s a game on there I quite like too. I like playing games where you’re against another person, that’s always fun.

Well there’s my paragraphs :)

Internet Games – Sophiee

December 5, 2008 by Sophie

Internet Games! I loooove internet games. I especially love Club Penguin. It’s my favorite, i’m always online. I like to talk to people, make new friends, play games (I love the game “Pizzatron”), dress up, play with my puffles, buy new stuff, and so so much more! At the moment i’m trying to get a black belt in the Dojo! I’m at my yellow one at the moment, i’m really really looking forward to getting my black belt! Why not add me? My name is Sophieponnie22 :)

I have a very long list of friends, so please don’t tell me to come and find you, as it’s that long! If you want to see me, come to my house as i spend alot of time in there. If i’m not in there, come and find me! hehe

Some other games i like to play on are Habbo and Howrse. Habbo is so fun, i enjoy it alot because you get to meet new people and chat with them, which is rather fun because i have some really fun and interesting conversations with them!

Howrse. I have played on it a couple of times, but to be honest it’s a bit boring. I guess i’m not really into horse games. I would recommend that you try it out first though, as everyone has they’re own opinion. If your horse needs to go to an Equestrian Centre i definately recommend Premiere Performance as they have a big stable, huge land for your horse to play on, and its only 20 Equus per day!

Well, thats basically everything you need to know about what i play on, hope you like it,

Sophiee <3

Internet Games – By Beanie

December 5, 2008 by Beanie

Ok. So.. I play a lot of internet games. And I mean a lot! Now, I don’t always pla ythem, but I have probably registered with at least 50 different games.

The ones that I think are the best, and I recommend are as follows

Neopets – It is one of the best virtual pet sites you will ever find on this side of the Milkyway, and I have been obsessed with it for over 8 years. It always has something new going on, with new features being added 5 days a week. Neo also has over 200 original games for you to play, and I Have to say, they are veeerry addictive!

Build-a-bearville – I first joined when it was still in Beta, about a month after it first began. I really liked it because it incorporated the teddies you got from the store, into a game. It didn’t have much back then, so I was’t on it so much. I got into it again after 7 months or so, in the summer. It picked up a lot and it had tons of new things. The games are really fun, and it is a safe and fun environment for kids everywhere :D

Club Penguin – Probably the second site I ever joined. I was introduced to Club Penguin in April 2006, when my cousin first told me you didn’t actually need to pay to play (I had seen CP before, but thought you needed to pay). In August 2006 I became a member, after deciding it was worth while. I am still a member to this day. It is one of the most popular virtual games for kids. You can dress up your penguin, even if your a nonmember, because nonmembers can still receive free items from parties. I still enjoy Club Penguin, but not as much as I used to. I log on at least twice a week to check on the newspaper and parties and stuff :)

A list of other sites I play (and used to play), but can’t be bothered to write about;

Wajas, Panfu (its too much like CP its a joke), Twin Skies, Moshi Monsters (really, really, really good fun btw lol), Habbo (great fun for teens), Dizzy Wood, Furrypaws, Ichumon, Tiki Island (might be wrong name), Powerpets etc. etc.

If you play any of these sites (ones in list and ones I talked about) and would like to meet up/talk please email me at beanbobble@gmail.com and ask for my username. I will gladly give it to you :)

That’s all for now..

Animal Testing – by Beanie

December 5, 2008 by Beanie

I am pretty even sided when it comes to animal testing. Yes, I think it is abusing the animal’s rights, and is just plain cruel, but I also think it can save millons of lives (human lives, as well as animals).

A few months ago we did a whole unit on Animal Rights, and we had to watch some gorrry stuff. It really hit me hard, and made me think about it more.

Animal testing is when any company, organisation, or laboratory (Oxford Laboratory is a well known one) use animals to, essentially, test something. They can be used to test literally anything that may affect the human body and is needed to be checked. For example – makeup (brands such as Maybelline, Avon and Loreal use animals to test on products), different drugs, medicines or anything medical, and also any operations and stuff that could be tested on animals to check if it is safe for humans.

A lot of people say humans are using their power over other species’ to check if it is ok for them. We watched some videos in RME, and a lot of laboratories and pretty clean and nice to the animals as much as possible, and they make sure the animals don’t suffer any pain.

Animal testing has improved A LOT since the 1950’s. One laboratory used to dogs and actually made them smoke cigarettes so they could see if their special drug could stop cigarettes from being bad to the human body.

However, there is a lot of laws now which definitely cut down on the amount of animals that suffer any pain – it still is pretty mean and abusive to the animals, but luckily they don’t suffer..

Thanks for reading, and if you have any q’s just email me :)
